I am Years old. I currently live in Oakton, Virgnia. I've always been interested in computers and software development. I remember when I was 7 years old I took apart the family's Apple II and re-soldered the video connection to the motherboard. In high school I began my training in the Basic language, I really liked it and can still remember the hours spent on my Yahtzee program, complete with ASCII graphic dice. When it came time for college I was accepted into the Engineering department at George Mason. I liked all the Engineering and C++ classes but I discovered I have a terrible head for Calculus. I decided that I would be more suited for a Major in my other passion, Art. I'd been in advanced Art programs all my life, but I never thought it as a career. I switched my degree to Computer Graphics, which would better compliment my dual interests. I graduated from GMU in 2004 with a BA in Computer Graphics and a Minor in Information Technology. This is not the combination of Majors that most professional IT workers have, but I believe that it gives an advantage in that I can work on the front end or the back end of a web based application.

Professional IT Experience

In 2004 I accepted a position at ATS for a project that would translate a Coldfusion/Sybase system to a Java/Oracle based system. During this project I taught myself all of the appropriate web and database technologies (Java, Oracle, Coldfusion, Sybase, Ibatis, SQL). I laid out the visual framework for the UI and was responsible for keeping the design standards through out the system. I also designed the logo for the project. Besides visual and gui design I worked with analysts and DBAs to create new functionality in the system and correct issues. I am currently working towards a certification in Java 1.5.

Artistic Experience

In my free time I use my Art skills to design websites, graphics, and logos. Examples of which are located on my portfolio site TheSchubox.com. I have participated in Artomatic since 2008 and I'm also selling small arts and crafts on ETSY.com.

IREMS Logo and UI

Integrated Real Estate Management System (IREMS) is the system that HUD uses to keep track of all of the inspection, finalcial, and contact information for all of their housing projects. ATS was contracted to redesign the system from the ground up in JAVA. My design for the UI was accepted and implemented in the system. It combines usability with a clean interesting layout like any modern UI should.

Stafford Cardboard Boat Regatta Website

A community based fund raising project run by the North Stafford Ruritan organization that I participate in every year. I also designed web site, logo, and t-shirts for the event.

American Mortgage Assistance Website

This is a web presence designed in 2003 for a finance company in Falls Church Virginia. I designed all the graphics and coded the HTML. The web forms were written in PERL script to dynamically submit the information securely to the company over the web.

Pixels and Thoughts

My personal blog site where I can discuss anything I want with total control over the design and layout. I've created all the Images on the site and heavily modified the CSS to suit my needs. Besides learning how to run a semi-professional looking blog, this site has taught me a lot about CSS and PHP based web development as well as good SEO (search engine optimization) practices.
